Team Spotlight: Going Above and Beyond in Uvalde

Chris Salmon and his crew were working the Border Patrol project in Uvalde when they hit a serious challenge during the electrical disconnect and reconnect phase. The existing main breaker was heavily corroded, and the entire team, including Michael F., Roland, Chris, the general contractor, and Border Patrol, knew there was a real possibility it would break during the work.

The Challenge

Everyone was kept in the loop. The team documented the risk, got written approval from the GC to cover costs if it failed, and made the call to proceed, because there was no other option at that point in the project.

The breaker did break. At 4 PM on a Friday. The building lost power. Not the outcome anyone wanted, but the one the team had prepared for.

What Sets Us Apart

Thanks to a strong vendor relationship Roland had built over the years, a brand-new 600-amp replacement breaker was sourced and delivered by 7 PM that same Friday evening. A temporary generator was provided by United Rentals Saturday morning. Chris and his crew worked through the entire weekend to ensure the building was powered back up and the customer was taken care of. By Monday morning, the new main breaker was installed and the building was reconnected to AEP power.

The Outcome

A tough weekend that turned into a great result: a satisfied customer, a solid change order, and a team that showed exactly what it means to be United Uptime Services.
